The form above searches both. A car can go back to the airport, or one way to George Airport or Johannesburg's O.R. Tambo Airport, and each car shows its deposit, card rule, driver age and kilometre allowance before you pay.

For car hire in South Africa you need a valid national driving licence with its details in Latin script, valid until at least the last day of the rental. Copies and electronic licences are not accepted. If your licence is only valid in the country that issued it, carry an International Driving Permit as well. Some cars need a physical embossed credit card in the main driver's name; others accept a debit card, which is stated during booking and in the voucher. The age band and years of driving experience are on each car's page: the minimum age is 20, 21 or 25 and the maximum 70 or 80, with 2 or 3 years of driving.
Standard insurance does not cover damage to the wheels, the undercarriage, the windscreen or the interior. After an accident or theft you must tell the rental agent at once and obtain a police report, unless the agent agrees otherwise; without that, the insurance issued for the car no longer applies. Any higher cover and what it adds is described on the car you select, and the final price includes the extras and insurance you choose.
Set your collection and return dates, then choose Cape Town Airport or city delivery.
Check the available cars and read each car’s rental conditions before choosing.
Confirm the collection arrangements for your chosen car and keep the rental agent’s contact details handy.
Your voucher confirms the collection point and the rental agent's contact details. It arrives by email after the advance payment. For car hire collection at Cape Town Airport, keep your voucher and required documents ready and check the vehicle before driving away.

Choose city delivery to find cars available at an address in Cape Town. Coverage varies by car; the booking confirms the exact address.

Collect at Cape Town Airport and return at George Airport (GRJ) or Johannesburg's O.R. Tambo Airport (JNB). Select your drop-off to see eligible cars for one-way car hire in South Africa.
Longer routes need a suitable kilometre allowance, which varies by car. Check this before planning the Garden Route drive to George or the drive to Johannesburg.
South Africa drives on the left, and the steering wheel is on the right. The general speed limits are 60 km/h in urban areas, 100 km/h on other roads outside them and 120 km/h on freeways, unless a sign shows another limit. Rental cars may only be driven on paved public roads. Fuel, parking, fines and road tolls are paid by the driver, including the toll on Chapman's Peak Drive and the N1 toll at the Huguenot Tunnel.
Yes. The minimum charge is 24 hours, and every started 24 hours counts as a full day.
Only on cars whose page lists cash among the payment methods, which differ from car to car. Cash is taken only in South African rand (ZAR). The advance is paid by bank card when you book, and the ways to pay the balance at pick-up are shown during booking.
Cars that carry free cancellation show a Free cancellation badge in the search results, and the search has a Free cancellation filter; other cars do not include it.
Yes. The phone number given at booking, with its country code, has to be reachable from the day before pick-up until the car is returned, by call or by Viber, WhatsApp or Telegram.
Some Cape Town cars list a cross-border option for Lesotho and Eswatini, with its fee, among the extras on the car's page. Choose a car that offers it, and tell the rental agent before the trip so the documents can be prepared.
Only small pets may travel in a rental car, and they stay in a travel carrier for the whole journey.
The Atlantic coast is close: Camps Bay is 27 km from CPT, about 30 minutes, and Hout Bay, at the north end of Chapman's Peak Drive, is 33 km, about 40 minutes. Cape Point is 67 km, about 1 h 20. Inland, Stellenbosch is 35 km, about 35 minutes, and Franschhoek 72 km, about an hour, for Stellenbosch and Franschhoek in one day. Hermanus is 102 km on the N2 and the R43, about 1 h 30.
